Rosemary Orange Green Smoothie

For my friends who can’t stomach the GGS and have yet to discover the Mean Green Smoothie, this one is for you. For my other friends who love the GGS… I’m with you… this is for the days when you are feeling a ‘treat’ but will still pack that energizing green punch you so desire.

I was thumbing through recipe books the other day when I came across this recipe for a ‘Rosemary Orange Green Smoothie’. Now, I’m not one for a complicated smoothie. I typically use whatever I have on hand in equal ratios: 2 cups greens, 2 cups fruit, 2 cups liquid. Simple, quick, and easy to remember. Buuuuuuutttttt, sometimes, I read a recipe that, coincidentally, has every single ingredient sitting in my pantry/fridge and I’m down. Totally.

Sweet and creamy, it’s packed with nutrients such as iron and vitamin c (from the mulberries and spinach), healthy fats, phytonutrients, and potassium. It’ll leave you feeling light, energized, and completely content. It’s a nice change to a daily GGS. Besides, everyone deserves a treat once in a while. This one just happens to be good for you.

Rosemary Orange Green Smoothie

Rosemary Orange Green Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Mulberries
  • 1/4 cup cashews
  • 3 cups of spinach (one handful = cup)
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp avocado
  • 2 tsp fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp orange zest
  • 2 cups ice
  • (optional-1 tsp wheatgrass powder)

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients, in order, except for the ice into a blender. Blend till smooth and add the ice till cold and smooth. Garnish with fresh orange zest and drink immediately.
